Plasmon's UDO to be used with Symantec technology

11 Apr 2007

Plasmon's UDO Archive Appliance is to be used in conjunction with the Symantec Enterprise Vault for an information lifecycle management solution.

The appliance has qualified with the Symantec Technology Enabled Program, which means it can be used as a solution for Microsoft Exchange email system resources, the vendor states.

Symantec adds that when integrated, the UDO Archive Appliance is to act as a storage repository for the Enterprise Vault and help prevent archived messages from being stored or deleted.

Raja Srinivasan, senior manager for the Technology Enabled Program at Symantec, commented: "Data integrity and security remain a top priority for businesses today.

"By integrating Plasmon's UDO Archive Appliance and Symantec Enterprise Vault 7.0 for Non-WORM, we've created an affordable, user-friendly ILM solution that meets legal and regulatory record retention requirements and is highly scalable to meet growing data needs."

Michael Brooks, director of strategic alliances at Plasmon, added that an email archiving strategy that includes the UDO appliance will "improve overall system performance".

It will also lead to a more reliable long-term data management solution, Mr Brooks continued.

The news follows reports that Plasmon's UDO can stand up to extreme weather conditions, such as hurricane and severe cold.
