Riverbed reaches 2,000th customer milestone

26 Apr 2007

Wide-area data service (WDS) provider Riverbed Technology has won its 2,000th customer, signifying a 300 per cent growth in its business since January 2006.

Over a period of 15 months, the firm has acquired the custom of 1,500 businesses. To date, it has provided WDS solutions to companies in sectors ranging from financial services to aerospace.

Riverbed conducted a survey of its clients last month to examine why they had selected its Steelhead appliances over competitors' offerings. Faster and better performance, ease of deployment and broader support for acceleration were named by respondents as key reasons for their choice.

On the landmark customer figure, Steve Duplessie, founder and senior analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group, commented: "Riverbed got to 2,000 customers faster than most get to 200. Even more impressive is that they are adding more functionality and entering new market segments."

The announcement comes in the same week that Riverbed announced a quarterly revenue of $42.8 million (£21.5 million), representing a year-on-year growth of 212 per cent.
