In recognition of the increased organisational dependency on the cloud and the data centre, Mellanox Technologies has developed its Ethernet and InfiniBand Adapter Cards to ensure the consistent delivery of high performance computing (HPC).

Mellanox’s range of Ethernet Adapter Cards represent the highest performing and most flexible interconnect solutions for PCI Express Gen3 servers as well as enterprise data centres, web 2.0, HPC and embedded environments. Targeted at similar computing environments, the Mellanox InfiniBand Host Channel Adapters significantly improve the performance of clustered databases, parallelised applications, transactional services and high-performance embedded I/O applications.

The adapters come with Virtual Protocol Interconnect (VPI) flexibility, which means that any standard networking, clustering, storage, and management can seamlessly operate over any converged network leveraging a consolidated software stack. VPI enables each point to operate on Infiniband, Ethernet or data centre bridging fabrics. This simplifies the I/O system design and makes it easier for IT managers to deploy infrastructure that meets the challenges of a dynamic data centre.

All Mellanox adapters are supported by a full suite of drivers for Microsoft Windows, Linux distributions, VMware, and Citrix XENServer. They also support OpenFabrics-based RDMA protocols and software, meaning they are compatible and easy-to-use in almost any system.

Both the Ethernet and InfiniBand Adapter Cards utilise Virtual Intelligent Queuing technology, thereby improving the performance of the data centre while also reducing cost, power and cable complexity.
