The Uspace fire protection system is a cabinet based stand alone solution delivering an immediate and decisive response to the detection of fire.

Many fire protection systems are room or building based which has a number of direct implications for the customer: A room or building based fire protection system is costly to install and can interrupt data centre operations during installation. The systems response can often be untargeted i.e. the detection of smoke in a single cabinet could result in the entire data being shut down, often for many hours or days.

• The Uspace cabinet fire protection system is a 2u unit that can be rack mounted or fitted into the top cover of a Usystems cabinet
• The 2u unit has sockets to receive incoming power to the cabinet and sockets to feed that incoming power to multiple PDU's in the cabinet
• The unit is also fitted with smoke detection, upon the event of smoke being detected in a cabinet the system immediately discharges the extinguishant gas into the cabinet and cuts off the incoming power
• The extinguishant is a non harmful gas called FM200. FM200 is non toxic and has no impact on the environment
• The unit is also fitted with 3 dry contacts to trigger additional responses to fire detection such as commanding the UPS to cut the power to cabinets in the surrounding area and to deliver alerts through management systems such as Centerline and building alarm systems
• The system is also fitted for audible and visible alarms to alert staff on the data centre floor
