Mass storage ICs to see large boost

The market for digital mass storage integrated circuits (ICs) should yield total revenues of $3.7 billion this year, according to Nevada-based market research firm Databeans.
This will mean an eight per cent increase on last year's figure, with far greater growth on the cards for 2007 when revenues are expected to near $4.5 billion.
By 2011, the market's growth is expected to average around ten per cent each year, with annual revenue topping $6 billion by this time if the market remains faithful to its projections.
Digital mass storage IC revenue still sees most of its revenues turned out by the computer market, but its forthcoming growth is expected to be based firmly in the consumer market with the ever-expanding range home and mobile electronics services that are emerging.
Regionally, Asia Pacific is the most profitable market for these circuits, primarily due to the fact that most of the manufacturing for both the consumer and computer markets takes place in this area.
