02 Mar 2007

Riverbed and 3PAR are to join forces to deliver a business IT and disaster recovery consolidation solution.

Under a joint support agreement, the Riverbed Steelhead appliances and 3PAR InServ Storage Servers are to be used together, in what the companies claim will offer added savings for customers.

Tony Asaro, senior analyst for the Enterprise Strategy Group, said: "The combination of the 3PAR and Riverbed products blends the unique capabilities of each company for a compelling disaster recovery solution.

"3PAR and Riverbed offer next generation technologies for enabling disaster recovery. This partnership creates best-in-class efficiencies for disaster recovery leveraging the value propositions of both Riverbed and 3PAR."

Kevin Fiore, director of engineering services at Thomas Weisel Partners, explained why his firm had opted for the Riverbed and 3PAR products.

He said: "We use 3PAR Remote Copy with native IP connectivity and Riverbed Steelhead WDS appliances to deliver extremely simple and efficient disaster recovery (DR) capabilities.

"With this combined offering, we are able to meet stringent DR requirements with virtually no administration, while speeding data transfers significantly.".
