Fujitsu Siemens beats profit expectations
20 Apr 2007
Fujistu Siemens has beaten its profit expectations for the 2006 fiscal year.
The vendor states its pre-tax operating revenue was £4.7 billion last year, which is higher than that announced in March at CeBIT.
Its operating profits also rose to a figure of £101.5 million, adding that it has managed to turn around its services arm, which has been part of the company since April 1st 2006.
Bernd Bischoff, president and chief operating officer of Fujitsu Siemens, commented: "In a difficult and fiercely competitive market, we have continued to systematically pursue our policy of profitability before pure revenue.
"During last fiscal year, we set the cornerstones for our company's long-term competitiveness and managed to make our services business profitable," he said.
Bischoff added that the profit growth shows that the company has made correct strategic choices while operating in a market characterised by "by declining prices and decreasing margins".
Earlier this week, it was reported that Fujitsu has released a line of servers based on SPARC architecture and running the Solaris 10 operating system.
