JDSU joins Ethernet alliance

24 Apr 2007

JDSU has been welcomed as part of the Ethernet Alliance.

The consortium states that it has invited JDSU to be a member in order to help mould current and emerging standards within the Ethernet industry.

It states that this forms part of the alliance's ongoing commitment to the integration and success of Ethernet technology.

Brad Booth, president of the Ethernet Alliance, commented: "We are delighted to have such prestigious vendors continue to join the Ethernet Alliance.

"Our members look to the Ethernet Alliance to help support the efforts of the IEEE 802 Ethernet standards bodies in the development of next-generation Ethernet technologies," he said.

JDSU states that there is a variety of benefits in adopting Ethernet technology, including the fact that it allows for cost-effective network expansion through existing networks including SONET/SDH equipment.

Ethernet is also stable, flexible and scalable, meaning that it is interoperable across a diverse range of packet-based networks, the vendor adds.
