Polycom showcases RMX 2000 upgrade

25 Apr 2007

Polycom has unveiled a new real-time media conferencing platform that it claims will deliver true high-definition (HD) continuous presence conferencing.

RMX 2000 Version 2.0 will build on the existing hardware to enable different resolution capabilities to be displayed during the same call and the ability to show multiple sites at one time.

The platform is built on an Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture, which is optimised to be used on IP networks. The latest upgrade is intended to lay the foundations for integration with next-generation video communications applications.

"Polycom's approach with the RMX 2000 is to give customers a single multi-point bridging solution that is built to support HD, but has the flexibility to support their existing non-HD bridging needs," commented Ira Weinstein of Wainhouse Research.

Yesterday, Polycom announced it is to offer support services to enterprises which upgrade to HD, on-demand and instantaneous conferencing.
