Polycom reports revenue growth in Q1
27 Apr 2007
Polycom has revealed that its first-quarter earnings were up by $30 million (£14.9 million) in comparison with the same period last year.
The results include performance from SpectraLink, which was acquired by the vendor on March 26th 2007.
Polycom adds that net Non-GAAP income was $19.8 million in the first quarter, with 56 per cent of consolidated net revenues being made up by video communications. The remainder comprised activities in network systems.
Robert Hagerty, president and chief executive officer of Polycom, commented: "Voice and video over IP is making true collaboration a reality for businesses and public organisations at unprecedented levels.
"Enabled by ramping IP connectivity, Polycom video collaboration solutions have now expanded to include high definition (HD) video and tele-presence - new technology vectors that are driving deeper adoption and opening customer applications," he said.
Mr Hagerty added that its RMX 2000 platform will satisfy growing network demand for high-definition deployments with RMX to be a "meaningful contributor" to Polycom's network systems' revenues.
Polycom's HD solutions are currently helping St Joseph's Children's hospital by enabling it to send a range of sources such as pathology slides and imaging studies.
