Data centre service profits to double, says report

27 Apr 2007

Data centre service profits in Europe are set to double in the next half-decade, according to a BroadGroup report.

The report suggests that profits, which suggests that they will hit the €4 billion mark by 2009, with Germany expected to form the largest data centre market in the next five years.

Key challenges highlighted in the report include attitudes towards visualisation and high density solutions.

Philip Low, founder of the BroadGroup, commented: "The report confirms much of the argument we have proposed over the past few years that data centres are a strategic asset as value migrates to the edge of the network."

"What the report reveals is how far European city markets are moving in response to the increase in demand, particularly from enterprises and government, and also new sources of opportunity for the future," he said.

The report is based on interviews with more than 100 operators and provides insight into market drivers, player profiles and strategies.

In related news, a spokesperson for Frost and Sullivan recently told Express Computers that the data centre market is emerging but requires more traction to avoid appearing inflexible.
