LignUp releases new application server for VoIP web services

LignUp has released a new application server, which aims to deliver the industry's "most comprehensive suite of telephony services" in service-orientated architectures.

The 4.0 Application Server features 1.25 call control and media control functions and which are implemented by the J2EE-compliant LignUp Communications Integration Server.

It includes support for standard protocols such as SIP, RTP, HTTP, SOAP and WSDL2.

Dana Gardner, founder of IT research firm Interarbor Solutions, commented: "LignUp's Release 4.0 of its Communications Application Server . . . helps developers, ISVs, and enterprises quickly add IP-based voice communications to business processes."

LignUp 4.0-powered applications can be used to ring any phone, independently of PBX, carrier switch or the network they are attached to.

This extends the breadth of business users of VoIP uptake, the vendor states.

In related news, LignUp has announced that Churchill Networks has implemented a LignUP Communications Application Server to provide communication-enabled business processes for its enterprise customers.
