SpectraLogic solutions 'provide increased encryption-performance and capacity'

03 May 2007

Data archive and backup specialist Spectra Logic has announced its support for LTO-4 including drive-based encryption, in T50, T120 and T950 libraries.

As LTO-4 encryption requires a key management solution to be in operation to manage encryption keys, the firm has developed the capabilities of BlueScale Encyption's system, thereby facilitating the management of both library-generated and LTO-4 encryption keys.

The firm's senior security analyst Jon Oltsik stated that key management has been identified as a particular concern for the administration of encrypted data - consequently the firm had taken steps to establish a leading position in providing management solutions.

Molly Rector, vice president of marketing and project management at the firm, remarked: "Spectra Logic believes that secure data protection strategies must include encryption that is affordable and simple to implement.

"We believe backup encryption should be accessible to all organisations. BlueScale Encryption with LTO-4 is designed to fit any size budget and all levels of key management requirements," she said.

Last month Spectra Logic unveiled Spectra nTier, which it claimed was the first product in the industry to provide a single platform accommodating all archive and backup requirements.
