Diligent Technologies' ProtecTIER platform honoured

Dilligent Technologies' ProtecTIER platform has won the 2006 Product of the Year Award from Communications Solutions magazine.
It was described as the first proven enterprise-class disk-based data protection solution that allows customers to minimise disk storage capacity requirements by 25 times or more.
ProtecTIER also reduces the amount of physical storage necessary, meaning more viable for backup restore and archive.
Dorn Kempel, chairman and chief executive officer at Dilligent Technologies, commented: "With this award, Communications Solutions has recognised the fact that, for 18 months now, ProtecTIER has been the only proven de-duplication solution for massive data-centers.
"It is installed at some of the largest enterprise data centers in the world, including four of the ten largest global telecommunication companies.
He added that the award is testament to ProtecTIER's "continued success and market acceptance" and that the company is "extremely honored for the recognition".
Peter O'Brien was recently named as vice president of business development at the company to handle growth in the data de-duplication market, reports echannelline.com.
