JDSU to discuss emerging trends in telecommunications industry

The chief technology officer at JDSU is to speak at the Future of Optical Conference at the Marriott Marble Arch Hotel in London next week.

Dr Stan Lumish, will participate in two panels alongside other experts in the day-long event, which will address issues for network equipment manufacturers.

The conference will also focus on the growing popularity of on-demand applications as well as the continuing need for "flexible and high-quality products and services at every stage of network deployment".

The first panel, Building New Business Models with Optical, will be held between 10:45 BST and 12:00 BST. It will examine the role optical networking plays in cost reduction and will explore the business models available for telecom providers.

The second panel will be held between 15:15 BST and 16:30 BST and comes under the title Building the Next-Generation Backbone. It will examine the key drivers behind backbone network growth as well as explaining technologies of next-generation backbone.

Separately, JDSU's net revenue for the third quarter was described as "stronger than expected" by its chief executive officer Kevin Kennedy recently.

He added that the company is committed to "focussed execution" of its profitability improvement programmes.
