29 May 2007
The PCI Security Standards Council (SSC) has announced the results of elections for its Board of Advisors.
Designed to provide a payment card data security standard worldwide, the advisors are set to represent the current roster of about 200 PCI SSC participating organisations.
They will also provide critical feedback aimed at ongoing enhancement of security standards that the council manages.
Bob Russo, general manager for the PCI Security Standards Council, commented: "Our Board of Advisors brings an exceptional amount of industry leadership and real-world experience to our ongoing discussions.
"We are pleased to unite these organisations in our mission to protect payment data and shape the next generation of PCI security standards," he said.
He added that UK payments association Apacs, the Bank of America and British Airways are among those elected to serve on the board.
Meanwhile, research from Apacs found that instances of credit card fraud fell in the first half of last year, though online banking fraud rose to £22.5 million..
