Homeworkers 'happy to leave office life'
29 May 2007
The majority of people who work from home say that they prefer it to life in the office, according to a new survey.
About 69 per cent of respondents in a Cornhill Direct poll said they would rather work from home if they had the choice.
And one in five felt they would be more productive because there would be less distractions than there would be in the office.
Mark Bishop, spokesperson for Cornhill Direct, said that the survey highlights the fact that working from home can increase productivity - a link not often made.
The news comes as studies from Oxford University suggest that home workers are environmentally-friendly since they produce fewer emissions travelling than normal commuters.
Phil Flaxton, chief executive of Cornhill Direct, told the News Shopper: "For many, there is absolutely no reason to waste hours commuting into a central location every day of the week."
