Huawei ranked first in IP DSLAM market

06 Jun 2007

Huawei is ranked number one in the global IP digital subscriber line access multiplexer (DSLAM) market, according to research.

Data published by the vendor today additionally suggests that its broadband access products and solutions are used by 50 million digital subscriber customers globally.

Huawei launched the world's first commercial IP DSLAM, product accelerating the transformation to IP access network in 2001.

This was followed by the rolling out of fast Ethernet and gigabit Ethernet-based large capacity IP DSLAM, which allows operators to produce future-orientated broadband networks.

Daniel Tang, vice president of Huawei's network production line, commented: "Successfully serving 50 million DSL customers around the world demonstrates that Huawei's broadband access products and services are widely recognised and adopted by industry operators globally.

"By focusing on the needs of its customers, Huawei can offer innovative IP access solutions and services, enabling operators to largely reduce network total cost of ownership and achieve their business goals."

The news comes as Huawei reports that it successfully hosted the global seminar of GSM-R Technology in Shanghai.
