Hitachi Data Systems version 2.0 of Content Archive Platform
07 Jun 2007
Hitachi Data Systems has unveiled version 2.0 of its new Content Archive Platform (HCAP).
The new system includes a range of new and enhanced features in replication, security, compression and de-duplication, the vendor states.
Hitachi Data Systems states that it can support up to 20 PB of storage in an 80-node archive system, with a single HCAP node scaling up to 400 million objects.
The vendor adds that an 80-node system can support up to 32 billion objects and that it outperforms previous-generation CAS systems by 470 per cent.
Asim Zaheer, senior director of business development for content archiving at Hitachi Data Systems, told InfoStor: "The new release of the Content Archive Platform shares the same philosophy of disaggregating servers and storage as the recently announced USP V platform."
The new technology is expected to allow for management of 247 PB of virtualised capacity, which is about 670 per cent more than the previous-generation TagmaStore USP platform.
In related news, Hitachi Data Systems has said that it has entered an agreement to co-market a powerful data management solution that will allow healthcare organisations to archive clinically relevant information from multiple systems.
