QLogic switches and HCAs gain certification

03 Jul 2007

QLogic has announced that a number of its host channel adapters (HCAs) and InfiniBand switches have been certified by the OpenFabric Alliance (OFA) InterOperability Logo Programme.

The OFA aims to develop and promote unified open-source and transport-independent software for InfiniBand, Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA)-over-ethernet and other RDMA-capable fabrics.

As a member of the alliance's InterOperability scheme, QLogic is committed to collaborating with the University of New Hampshire Interoperability Lab and vendors to facilitate the migration of high-performance computing (HPC) to enterprise IT environments from technical computing environments.

Frank Berry, vice president of marketing at QLogic, said: "HPC customers tell us that they need to be able to choose best-of-breed products and solutions for the data centre, but most importantly, they don’t have time for glitches in interoperability or sacrifices in performance."

He added that the company's HCAs and InfiniBand switches are capable of providing this level of performance for networking infrastructure as part of its QLogic Network Platform.

The OFA is a non-profit body founded in June 2004 as the OpenIB alliance and originally directed on the development of a universal Linux-based InfiniBand software stack.
