Automotive subsidiary deploys Riverbed appliances

04 Jul 2007

Hyundai Hysco, an automotive steel sheet and hi-tech steel pipe manufacturer and subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company has elected to use the Steelhead wide-data-services (WDS) appliances from Riverbed.

Prior to using the Riverbed WDS, the company's employees in remote offices - connected to its electronic approval systems and groupware via an internet virtual private network - had reported poor application response time.

These problems were exacerbated for staff in China in the aftermath of an earthquake in Taiwan during 2006, with damage caused to undersea communications cables.

Following proof-of-concept tests with Riverbed in Beijing, the firm installed its WDS Steelhead appliances to speed up communications between its headquarters and remote offices.

Donghoon Seo, manager of the IT Team at Hyundai Hysco, said: "With Riverbed's Steelhead appliances installed, our remote office users were able to access head office applications quickly, resulting in enhanced productivity and improvements in overall user experience."

Riverbed claims that a number of its clients report improvements in productivity as a result of implementing its Steelhead appliances, stating that WDS solutions are "becoming a must-have" for global enterprises with multiple offices overseas looking to become more efficient.

Hyundai Hysco was established in Seuol, Korea in 1975 and is one of the largest steel producers worldwide.
