Data centre management 'to go mobile'
05 Sep 2007
The management of data centres could soon be conducted via wireless networks with some enterprises seeking the convenience of mobile data centre administration.
Charles King, an analyst at Pundit-IT Research, told TechWorld that wireless access offers administrators the means to escape noisy and warm data centres.
"It also offers a single and unified method for delivering data centre performance information so it could be useful for aggregating that information to a single location or console," he said.
Mr King added that this aggregation could make data centre management more efficient.
The Centerline managed rack infrastructure solution from Epicenter offers business users powerful KVM-over-IP data centre management.
Users can consolidate the functionality usually conducted by up to five separate management systems with the product.
The product offers server management of multi-vendor systems, serial management of headless servers, in addition to power, environmental and asset management.
