Hitachi Data Systems receives storage certification
06 Sep 2007
Hitachi Data Systems has announced that it has been certified under the external storage virtualisation hardware certification programme run by VMware.
The certification concerns the Hitachi Universal Storage Platform and Network Storage Controller systems, which have been certified for use with VMware Infrastructure 3, the virtualisation programme.
"With more than 6,000 Intelligent Virtual Storage Controllers shipped, Hitachi delivers the storage virtualisation solutions that provide the ease-of-consolidation and safe multi-tenancy required for these types of environments," said John Mansfield, senior vice-president, global solutions strategy and development, Hitachi Data Systems.
Mr Mansfield added that the Hitachi hardware certified as part of the VMware programme offers "logical partitioning services" to clients, which enable service quality for virtual machines to be maintained.
Using Hitachi Data Systems-certified hardware in association with Infrastructure 3 could lead to reduced IT costs and improved operational efficiencies among other benefits, the company has said.
Last month, Hitachi Data Systems was awarded the Diogenes Labs-Storage magazine Quality Award for Enterprise Storage Arrays, for the third consecutive year for its Universal Storage Platform.
