Hitachi storage solution 'achieves highest-ever benchmark'
04 Oct 2007
The Universal Storage Platform V (USPV) from Hitachi Data Systems has set a new benchmark standard, the company claims.
In testing by the Storage Performance Council (SPC), the product attained a top speed of 200,245.73 input/output operations per second (IOPS), "crushing through the limitations of aging monolithic architectures", Hitachi states.
This is sufficient to run multiple applications concurrently without the need for an additional storage controller, as well as increasing efficiency and productivity, according to the manufacturer.
Roberto Basilio, senior director of enterprise storage product management at Hitachi Data Systems, comments: "For customers seeking absolutely peak performance and the fastest response times from their business-critical applications, the Hitachi USPV has the requisite horsepower."
The USPV's top performance of 3.5 million cached IOPS represents an advantage of between 75 and 300 per cent over its competitors, Hitachi adds.
Activities undertaken by the SPC aim to facilitate the sharing of ideas and information while fostering an environment of healthy competition between companies, the organisation asserts..
