Free encryption offered by Spectra Logic

05 Oct 2007

Spectra Logic is offering free encryption with its tape libraries, the company reveals.

Customers who purchase the departmental Spectra T50, mid-range T120 or enterprise-class Spectra T950 may also expect to receive BlueScale encryption with key management.

All three products are available in Fibre Channel, small computer system interface (SCSI) and internet SCSI variations, Spectra Logic explains.

Vice-president of marketing and product management Molly Rector comments: "Encryption is no longer an option that users may consider in the future - customers are demanding secure data now.

"Spectra Logic is leading that market trend towards security and adjusting product development and planning accordingly."

By operating management via the BlueScale 10 interface, the firm asserts that customers can achieve encryption - with keys - without the need for additional software to be employed.

The news follows the announcement by Spectra Logic that Andrew Philippou is to serve as vice-president of worldwide support and services..
