Hitachi extends CommVault agreement

Hitachi Data Systems and CommVault have extended an agreement which sees the two firms partner on the delivery of a suite of software products, it has emerged.

Under the terms of the deal, CommVault's Simpana 7.0 suite is rebranded as the Hitachi Data Protection Suite 7.0 Powered by CommVault and made available to customers of the firm.

Vice-president of business development and marketing at CommVault David West asserts that the product allows IT managers to address issues which arise as a result of the increasing complexities of storage environments over time.

John Mansfield, senior vice-president of global solutions strategy and development at Hitachi Data Systems, adds: "We are delivering an integrated solution that represents the combined synergies of Hitachi's industry-leading storage systems and CommVault's sophisticated data protection software."

Hitachi Data Systems recently announced the release of the Simple Modular Storage Model 100, an entry-level unit designed to simplify the implementation of data storage for small businesses.
