Polycom HDX platform given industry accolade

30 Oct 2007

Polycom's high-definition HDX communications platform has been named the best such video conferencing solution by Wainhouse Research.

In a "head-to-head comparison", the Polycom product beat similar devices from other companies in eight of the ten categories tested to secure the top place in the research.

Joe Sigrist, senior vice-president and general manager of video solutions at Polycom, comments: "Delivering the best user experience is about more than just video resolution - it is also about voice quality, the ability to share content in HD, the user interface, camera performance and more."

He adds that offering customers an integrated solution helps to make the technology easy to deploy and use, as well as enhancing reliability.

Polycom asserts that its solutions are the only end-to-end HD conferencing products to incorporate UltimateHD to allow simultaneous voice, video and data broadcasts.

The inclusion of Lost Packet Recovery is also said to be ideal for businesses with workers based at home or in the field, or which allow visitors to access files via a so-called "dirty network".

Additional options for firms implementing a Polycom HDX communications solution include a ceiling-mounted microphone array with 360-degree reception and stereo audio pickup.
