Aelia implements Riverbed solutions across Europe
05 Nov 2007
Steelhead wide-area data services (WDS) solutions from Riverbed have been implemented across Europe by travel retailer Aelia, it has emerged.
The travel firm's corporate headquarters and a further 14 remote sites in France, Poland and the UK have all received Steelhead appliances, with the process being "completely painless" according to Aelia systems and production group manager Olivier Rideau.
"With Riverbed, the key attraction was the Steelhead appliance's capability to optimise in a consistent and unique way all kinds of data, from simple files to email or the web - our testing also showed significant bandwidth savings," he explains.
Aelia opted to invest in WDS in order to overcome a number of challenges posed by having a distributed company structure but centralised IT environment - meaning latency could have an adverse effect on the performance of applications in remote offices.
Riverbed's recent customer satisfaction survey revealed that 272 clients chose the firm's products in the second half of 2007 without considering a competitor brand - an increase of 99 per cent since the spring..
