Polycom expands VoIP partner programme
06 Nov 2007
Communication solutions provider Polycom has extended its VoIP interoperability partner programme.
Some 25 vendors have now been added to the list of suppliers whose products interoperate successfully with Polycom's SoundPoint and SoundStation ranges of desktop and conference IP-based telephones.
The latest announcement adds a further six companies to the list, including LignUp, a provider of comprehensive IP-based voice communications software platforms.
By identifying the companies whose products are most compatible with its own, Polycom claims that the transition from traditional PSTN phone networks to VoIP can be made less troublesome for businesses.
Sunil Bhalla, senior vice-president and general manager of voice communications at Polycom, comments: "As the leading independent supplier of standards-based VoIP endpoints, we appreciate that our customers want best-of-breed components for their VoIP solution."
Telephones from Polycom are designed for ease of use, the company adds, featuring a combination of both hard and soft keys along with a clear digital display and the ability to update the unit via the network.
Voice communications contribute about 39 per cent to Polycom's revenues, with the remaining 61 per cent derived from video conferencing products, according to recent financial statistics from the firm..
