HDS 'trends up' in storage industry
21 Jan 2008
Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) is among the firms currently enjoying success in the data storage industry, it has been revealed.
Figures from industry analyst TheInfoPro show that the company has "trended up" in recent months, ranking among four of the most exciting vendors in the organisation's Wave 10 Storage Study.
Other companies to make the shortlist include Sanrad and ONStor, based on feedback obtained by TheInfoPro from professionals within the data storage industry on what they consider to be the most exciting products and services at the moment.
Robert Stevenson, managing director of storage research at TheInfoPro, explains the need for companies to innovate to ensure their portfolios remain enticing as the industry as a whole progresses.
"Companies with extensive storage portfolios that fail to integrate newly acquired or newly developed products lost out to those companies that did integrate best-of-breed [and] novel products," he observes.
HDS recently established "the world's most environmentally friendly" data archiving installation in Iceland, powered entirely by renewable energy sources..
