Riverbed unveils new streaming video and print offerings

27 Feb 2008

Riverbed Technologies has revealed the availability of a local printer and streaming media service for its customers who use Steelhead appliances.

The services have been introduced to offer added value to people using the fifth edition of Riverbed's Optimisation System in a remote office and other additional solutions are in the pipeline and set to fulfil the same purpose, the company has explained.

At present, the so-called Riverbed Services Platform (RSP) can only be used in relation to one specified device at a time but it is anticipated that the company's Steelhead-using customers will soon be able to operate multiple modules simultaneously.

Explaining Riverbed's strategy to meeting customer demand, Joe Skorupa from research firm Gartner told Search Storage: "They've identified a series of partners with a broad suite of services, and their customers can pick and choose what they want."

Riverbed's vice-president of product marketing Alan Saldich claimed recently that his company offered businesses the "best-performing" wide-area data services solutions in the industry.
