Fujistu announces unified storage solutions partnership
28 Feb 2008
A unified storage solutions deal has been agreed between Fujitsu and unified storage systems supplier Reldata.
Reldata chief executive David Hubbard explained that through the integration of the Fujitsu XG family of Ethernet switches with Reldata's 9240 unified storage system, a "higher performance" storage solution is made possible.
In addition, customers can enjoy the benefits without having to deal with "the high cost, complexity, scalability and heavy licensing requirements" that come with conventional fibre channelSAN implementations, Mr Hubbard added.
Vic Herring, senior director of Fujitsu Computer Products of America's new products group, said the Ethernet switches ensure the delivery of a storage solution that is very efficient as well as scalable.
The combination of easy-to-use iSCSI with higher bandwidth means storage is delivered "exactly as it is needed to all applications and users across an organisation without the traditional enterprise issues associated with other technologies", he concluded.
Earlier this week, Fujitsu announced that the end of May will see the start of sample shipment of its new full high-definition multi-standard video decoder LSI for digital video broadcasting..
