Riverbed tells clients to 'make everything faster'

28 Feb 2008

The new edition of the Riverbed Optimisation System (RiOS) promises to "make everything faster", according to the company.

Riverbed explains that RiOS 5.0 offers performance "even faster" than previous incarnations, with support for enterprise applications such as web-based software and Microsoft Exchange 2007.

With the inclusion of application-level protocol optimisation for Exchange 2007, Riverbed claims that it is the first company within the industry to offer such a facility for the 2000, 2003 and 2007 versions of the program.

Eric Wolford, senior vice-president of marketing and business development, notes that the development follows a year of consultations between Riverbed and its clients.

He says: "It is clear that, in an effort to consolidate, they are looking at the wide variety of data services that complement their cornerstone acceleration efforts."

The company recently demonstrated the performance of its applications across a virtualised network infrastructure at the VMWorld Europe 2008 exposition in Cannes..
