QLogic unveils new Fibre Channel HBAs
29 Feb 2008
Storage networking solutions provider QLogic has added to its selection of Fibre Channel host bus adapters (HBAs).
The company recently announced the availability of its Fibre Channel HBAs for use with Windows Server 2008, stressing the products' support for Hyper-V virtualisation technology.
Amit Vashi, vice-president of marketing at QLogic's host solutions group, says: "QLogic Fibre Channel solutions are integrated with hardware-assisted virtualisation technologies in the Microsoft Hyper-V hypervisor platform to extend fabric security and flexibility in virtual environments."
This can allow multiple operating systems to be run in parallel with a single physical server required, QLogic notes, as well as allowing multiple server roles to be consolidated on to a single machine.
Some of the benefits which may also be derived include the ability to increase the utilisation of hardware without elevating the costs associated with operating the data centre.
QLogic recently revealed collaborative efforts with LSI through which the firms intend to cross-certify their products, helping data centre managers to identify which appliances may work well together.
