Riverbed Steelhead appliance 'best of the tests'

Network World has awarded Riverbed's Steelhead appliance the Best of the Tests accolade for its performance in terms of WAN optimisation and application acceleration.
The news provider, described by Fox Business as an "authoritative testing-based" publication, has identified Riverbed as providing the highest scoring solution in the sector over the last 12 months.
Wide-area data services provider Riverbed's product demonstrated service exceeding that offered by competitors such as Cisco, Blue Coat and Silver Peak in trials conducted for Network World by Network Test.
David Newman, president of the evaluation firm, remarks: "The Riverbed Steelhead appliances delivered web traffic the fastest.
"In all three ways we measured - transactions per second, traffic rates and response time - the Steelhead appliances delivered web traffic seven times faster than tests with no device inline."
Furthermore, the Steelhead appliances were the only devices tested that increased the speed of file transfers to both low-bandwidth, low delay sites and to low bandwidth, high-delay sites.
Recently, Riverbed celebrated being placed in the leaders quadrant of the WAN optimisation magic quadrant established by Gartner.
