Riverbed launches Rios 5.0
04 Mar 2008
Data storage technology giant Riverbed has announced the launch of the 5.0 edition of its Rios solution.
The company claims that the new Rios product builds on the position it has already established as the leading provider of wide-area data services (WDS) technology to businesses around the world.
Riverbed's latest solution is designed to help companies worldwide meet their needs in terms of optimising application speed and IT flexibility.
Furthermore, Rios 5.0 is described as being the first solution that provides application-level protocol optimisation for users of Microsoft Exchange 2007.
"Organisations spend millions annually on new technology hoping to make users more productive, but would benefit most if they improve the performance of applications in which they have already invested," said Zeus Kerravala, senior vice president of enterprise research at the Yankee Group.
Meanwhile, Riverbed recently announced the formation of an alliance between it and the Fortinet company, which will aim to bring in "best-of-breed" WDS and unified security products.
