Sidel group to benefit from Riverbed deployment

07 Mar 2008

The Sidel group has selected one of Riverbed's solutions to address its wide-area data services (WDS) requirements.

Riverbed's Steelhead WDS appliances are to be installed in 43 locations across the globe in a move intended to improve its international business processes, the technology provider reports.

Steelhead appliances will be tasked with supplying wide area data services supporting the group's 30,000 workers, who are involved in developing and providing bottling solutions to the commercial drinks sector.

Egidio Ghinelli, vice-president of information technology for Sidel, remarks: "We chose Riverbed because they delivered the best combination of speed and ease-of-use and simplicity."

He added that among the aims of the implementation were to minimise bandwidth costs as well as providing "LAN-like performance" for remote users.

Steelhead is set to provide an efficient network accessible to many aspects of Sidel's operations, including sales, fabrications, engineering, project management and after-sales assistance.

A recent evaluation of Steelhead by ICSA Labs established that the appliance was not vulnerable to attack or exploitation.
