Storage customers want green servers, says Spectra Logic

14 Mar 2008

There is growing demand among purchasers of storage solutions for environmentally friendly servers, Spectra Logic claims.

Founder and chief executive officer of the firm Nathan Thompson makes the assertion as Spectra Logic reveals it has now joined industry action group The Green Grid.

By doing so, the company suggests that it will be able to recommend best practices in order to improve the efficiency of data centres and of business computing as a whole.

Mr Thompson says: "With energy costs rising, customers demand cost-effective and energy-efficient storage products."

"Spectra Logic designs solutions that use less power and offers tools to calculate cost savings," he adds.

The firm points out that typical energy costs for its T950 solution each year are less than half those of comparable tape libraries.

Industry publication SearchStorage recently named the T950 as a finalist in the backup hardware category of its Products of the Year awards.
