QLogic SANbox switches 'cope with video growth'

19 Mar 2008

Firms faced with a growing need to store video content might find QLogic's SANbox switches to be an ideal option.

The company explains that its products are stackable, allowing the overall capacity of the system to be increased by introducing additional units over the course of time.

QLogic adds that it was the pioneer of such an approach to the Fibre Channelstorage market, having introduced its SANbox 5000 series as the first to stack and the first to incorporate support for 10 Gb communications.

Zed Saeed, senior post production consultant at media organisation DigitalFilm Tree, comments: "One of our biggest challenges is to handle the rapid growth of video files and the toll they take on our storage infrastructure."

By using SANbox units, he says the company was able to benefit from a low initial outlay with a pace of expansion capable of keeping up with its growing storage needs.

QLogic recently announced the availability of Fibre Channel host bus adapters for use with the new Microsoft Windows Server 2008.
