Emulex claims record HBA performance
20 Mar 2008
Emulex reports that its LightPulse range of 8 Gbps Fibre Channel host bus adapters (HBAs) have broken records in a recent round of testing.
During observations, the HBAs were found to operate at a rate some 14 per cent higher than they achieved under similar conditions in a 2007 study.
The company explains that this is indicative of the potential benefits to be derived by businesses which implement network infrastructure built around its LPe12000 HBAs.
Mike Smith, executive vice-president of worldwide marketing at Emulex, says: "LPe12000 8Gbps HBAs provide the critical input-output performance and features ... that meet the increasing requirements of large transactional databases."
Emulex adds that the interoperability of LightPulse HBAs with other networking products from major manufacturers further enhances the extent to which transfers may be accelerated.
President and chief executive officer (CEO) of Emulex Jim McCluney was recently awarded the accolade of CEO of the Year by the Technology Council of Southern California.
