20 Mar 2008
A new productivity suite from Polycom has the capability to accelerate the use of the firm's SoundPoint range of voice over internet protocol (VoIP) units, it has been claimed.
The suite comprises a selection of applications which aim to allow the VoIP handsets to be used more efficiently and to enhance communication both for end users and IT managers.
Sunil Bhalla, senior vice-president and general manager of Polycom's voice communications solutions group, says: "Polycom is going beyond voice to transform the traditional phone into an open and easy-to-use unified communications device."
In this way, the spokesperson adds that Polycom's product range "helps individuals and teams work smarter and faster".
Among the features provided by the suite of applications is local call recording, as well as the ability to monitor the quality of the call on a real-time basis.
Polycom's SoundPoint IP 550 desktop phone was recently named as the recipient of an award for innovation from industry publication VON Magazine.
