ExaGrid chosen by Gardner

25 Mar 2008

A truck fleet operator has selected ExaGrid as its provider of deduplication services, it has emerged.

Gardner Trucking operates in 11 states of the US and has adopted ExaGrid's solutions as a means of escaping the "hassles" of backing up a tape-based system.

ExaGrid explains that its products differ from many on the market in that they store only the data which has changed from one backup to the next, thereby reducing the overall time and disk space required to set a restore point.

The process is further accelerated by the fact that deduplication is carried out once the backup procedure itself is complete, rather than as an on-the-fly technique.

Gary Larson, chief information officer of Gardner Trucking, says: "The speed of our backups has been amazing - we are now able to complete full backups in less than two hours."

ExaGrid recently revealed that it had been selected to accelerate the backup processes carried out by digital camera manufacturer Concord.
