Alacritech 'in the box' for Windows Server 2008

02 Apr 2008

Users of Alacritech's accelerator cards could welcome the news that the products have been given in-the-box support in the latest edition of Microsoft's Windows Server software.

Windows Server 2008 comes with drivers for the cards already available, meaning users of the software should be able to install the products immediately without the need to add third-party drivers first.

Alacritech suggests that the move follows long-term collaboration between itself and Microsoft to help improve server performance for businesses with large TCP payloads in need of processing.

Doug Rainbolt, vice-president of marketing at Alacritech, comments: "The Alacritech in-the-box drivers, available as part of Windows 2008, provide customers an easy path to enable and benefit from TCP Chimney offload functionality and performance."

Processes which may be able to benefit from making use of Alacritech's accelerators include post-production of video content, serving files over the network and storage area networking via an iSCSI infrastructure, the firm asserts.
