New Eaton Powerware ePDUs unveiled

02 Apr 2008

Eaton's enclosure power distribution units (ePDUs) offer "intelligent" control over the energy supplied to a data centre, the firm states.

New switched and managed function levels have now been added to the company's product portfolio, helping to provide improved management over the power used in a data centre or rack-based storage environment.

The firm adds that Eaton Powerware devices are adaptable to different physical storage environments in the form of mounting options, individual control and remote administration access.

Michael Camesano, product manager for ePDUs and enclosures, says: "Eaton's portfolio of enclosure-based solutions is ideal for data centres across all power densities."

He adds that further benefits to be derived from installing the devices include effective cable management and the ability to physically relocate units without the assistance of a qualified electrician.

Eaton suggests that there are three main questions which should be posed by firms looking to purchase an Eaton Powerware device.

These relate to the input-output capabilities required, the functionality desired of the data network and the overall power consumption anticipated over the coming years.
