Riverbed looks to speed video delivery
03 Apr 2008
Riverbed Technology has announced it is looking into ways in which the delivery of video content over data networks may be accelerated.
The organisation is collaborating with Wowza, a provider of software for the management of streaming media, in order to speed up the distribution of both live broadcasts and recorded video.
Jess Leroy, director of product management at Riverbed, says: "The strong industry reputation and the exceptional performance of Wowza Media Server Pro were just two of the many reasons we chose Wowza to be a video delivery solution partner."
Now Riverbed clients who adopt Wowza's media server for their video distribution are told they could expect to see reductions in bandwidth usage of up to 98 per cent both for stored and live content.
Riverbed was recently identified by analyst Gartner as the market leader in the wide-area data services sector, the sixth consecutive quarter in which it has achieved the greatest share in the segment.
