Intransa eases digital transition for healthcare firm

04 Apr 2008

Baxter Healthcare is making the transition from analogue data storage to a digital system powered by Intransa, it has been revealed.

The storage requirements of the healthcare provider include the need to retain an accessible archive of video footage from seven digital video recorders (DVRs) which operate on a 24-hour basis, reports ISC West Show Daily.

With the Intransa system in place, Baxter explains that it is in a position to expand from its existing surveillance system of 100 cameras to reach 200 IP-based cameras covering its premises as a long-term aim.

Derrick Wright, who oversees physical security at the site, tells the publication: "In the past year, we had several DVR hard drive failures that made video unavailable when we needed it.

"Intransa presented a data centre-grade storage solution that keeps the system running even when power is lost."

At its stand at the ISC West trade show, Intransa recently introduced its latest products, including scalable solutions for shared IP video storage.
