ExaGrid extremely effective, says Konica

Digital imaging firm Konica Minolta Business Solutions is among the latest companies to benefit from the use of ExaGrid's backup services, it has emerged.
Konica Minolta is now using ExaGrid to back up its data and a spokesperson for the firm explains that the service's byte-level approach to deduplication is among the key features driving down the time taken by the archiving process.
Byte-level backups store only the information on the storage network which has changed since the last time files were archived, meaning data which has not changed need not be transferred to the archive.
"ExaGrid's byte-level approach to data deduplication made the most sense to us out of all of the solutions we looked at and it has been very efficient," says lead systems engineer at Konica Minolta Ed Kilianski.
He adds that the reduction in data storage witnessed since adopting ExaGrid has reached up to 23-to-one compared with the previous archiving the company had in place.
ExaGrid recently revealed that it had been termed a "cool vendor" by industry analyst Gartner in its study of the data protection market.
