Virtual Iron 'enables cloud computing'

16 Apr 2008

Firms looking to benefit from the use of so-called "cloud computing" could be wise to install Virtual Iron's virtualisation software management system, the company claims.

Chief marketing officer Mike Grandinetti explains that the term refers to the ability for workers at remote locations to "plug in" to a company network, which may enable multiple offices to collaborate on a project via the same data network.

Mr Grandinetti asserts that many small businesses have found cloud computing - also known as utility computing - "far too compelling" to overlook.

He adds that, following improvements in server technology and processor design, the introduction of quad-core systems and the widespread uptake of server virtualisation, cloud computing is now a reality.

The chief marketing officer concludes that many businesses have adopted Virtual Iron as a "core foundational component" in delivering internet-speed access across their entire cloud-based infrastructure.

Virtual Iron recently asserted that, through its certification scheme, it is helping to identify products which "set a new standard" in virtualisation technology.
