Industry standards 'widen Isilon adoption'
22 Apr 2008
The uptake of Isilon Systems' clustered storage solutions is made easier by the fact that the appliances comply with industry standards, reports broadcastbuyer.
Phil Crocker, director of marketing for EMEA at Isilon Systems, makes the assertion in light of the certification of the company's products for use with appliances from video editing services provider Gee Broadcast Systems.
He tells the broadcast technology publication: "By adhering to industry standards for our file protocols, interfaces and hardware platforms, Isilon is ensuring the widest possible adoption and interoperability across the media landscape."
Mr Crocker contends that working with media operators such as Gee Broadcast Systems is allowing the next-generation of facilities to be developed to provide "breakthroughs" in both efficiency and workflow for the user.
Isilon Systems recently suggested that new challenges are being presented to the media industry by the need to store sufficient quantities of data for three-dimensional broadcasts.
