Primergy servers 'designed from the ground up'

22 Apr 2008

Primergy servers from Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC) have been designed from the ground up to meet clients' needs, the company asserts.

The comments relate to the inclusion of quad-core Opteron processors within the systems, along with the introduction of upgrade options for anyone using existing dual-core Opteron-based Primergy servers.

FSC adds that the greater "system headroom" put in place by having four distinct processor cores could be ideal for businesses looking to establish a basis from which to expand in the coming years.

Senior vice-president of FSC's enterprise server business Jens-Peter Seick says: "We designed Primergy servers from the ground up to provide optimised performance and power economy when coupled with quad-core AMD Opteron processors."

Models such as the RX330 S1 and BX630 S2 blade servers are designed to operate either on a standalone basis or as part of a larger data centre, FSC adds.

FSC recently reported that, despite a dip in revenues, it recorded a 15 per cent increase in profits in the 2007 financial year and recorded market-leading growth in server shipments.
